I just realized that I never posted pictures of Maggie. So here are a couple...the first one is from when I first got her. The rest that follow are in chronological order, but you probably can't tell from pictures how big she's gotten. I think you can tell, though, how black she's gotten. She's lost almost all of her gray hairs. She'll be 6 months old soon, she's growing up so fast! She still such a little girl, but I can see the little lady in her. Haha...my kitten is my first child. I love her so much! I really can't imagine life without her. I don't know how I would've managed this summer alone without her. She's my little angel.

My little monster...
June 10, 2008
So, since the last post...I got bangs. But the more I look at pictures of my hair before, the more I dislike them. I think I'm just going to grow them out. Oh well, lesson learned.
Maggie is still adorable as ever. I really need to get some pictures up of her. I take pictures all the time, I just never have the time to upload them.
The past couple of days, customers have been very annoying at Payless. As with any job, you find little things that people do that are just ridiculous. I have a list building...one of them is when it is NOT Buy One Get One half off, and everyone asks if it is. Alright, if you know our lingo, then you probably know that when it IS BOGO, we have giant red signs everywhere telling you that it's BOGO. Yet this is the conversation I get every day at least once...
Me- "We have our summer sale going on right now, everything is marked with the sale price..."
Customer- "Oh, so it's BOGO?"
Me- "No, summer sale...the sale price is already on the box..."
Customer- "So I buy one, and get another half off?"
Me- "No. It's not BOGO."
Customer- "Well, maybe it'll be BOGO later?"
At this point I want to just walk away. But I try to nicely explain what an idiot they are and that it IS NOT BOGO. No where in my speech that I give every customer do I say the words "bogo" or "half off." Why do they all hear it? Stupid, stupid people...
This lady that came in today must of thought she was something special, because she kept treating me like I was the dirt under her feet. She walked in, pointed at a shoe, and said "Get me that in 9." I kind of looked at her strange, and then went and got the shoe for her (which, by the way, was about 5 inches from where she was standing.) When I held it out to her, she just waved her hand towards the couch...I thought I was going to die. She did it a couple more times before I finally just stopped walking by her. She talked so softly that I had to keep asking her what she was saying, which seemed to frustrate her. But what was I supposed to do?? Then, when the fool was ready to check out, the pair of sunglasses she wanted were recalled and I could sell them to her. Another woman in the store told me later that she thought the crazy lady was going to jump over the counter at me. When I said that I couldn't sell them, she said "Well, call someone." Uh, excuse me? I can't sell them, who the heck do you want me to call? They're just going to say the same thing and it's a waste of my time. Plus, they're are TEN dollar sunglasses. They're probably recalled because they have lead in the paint. Do you REALLY care that much about them to risk your health? AHHHH. Finally I went in the back and pretended to look something up on the computer, and when I came back out I told her that we got an email telling us that we couldn't sell them. To which she replied, "Are you the only one working?" Seriously? Do you want a second opinion? This isn't a life-threatening illness we're dealing with, it's a pair of recalled sunglasses. I hate people. I really do.
Well, I take that back. There are the occasional customer that I help find a pair of shoes that go perfect with their outfit and that look so cute on them...those are the people I'll go the extra mile for.
Anyways, I have things to do. Lame.

Lady...of the morning...
I'm starting to realize how long my hair is...and how boring it's getting. I want to keep it long, but I also want to do something different with it. I found a couple of pictures I like...

The first one is heavier on top. I think I've had something like it before and I liked it. The last three are all with fairly uneven bangs past the eyebrows, and I think I'd like that. I've always liked Reese Witherspoon's hair in this picture, but wasn't sure about how it would look with darker hair until I saw the other two pictures. Ohhh I just don't know.
Maggie just bit through the trash bag sitting by the door and brought the piece of steak I had thrown away into my room. Apparently she is hungry. But she's always hungry, no matter how much I feed her. I don't understand it. She just eats and eats...I don't want her being a fat kitty when she's older. But I'd hate to under-feed her.
My first summer class started this week, Monday and Wednesday from 1-4. I started working full time this week, too. So far, it's going pretty well. I'm finding that I have plenty of time to do everything I need to do. But of course, I only have one class right now. But it IS a summer class, and it's moving pretty fast. I'll just have to see how I do working and going to school full time once Fall comes along.
Every night, I put my chapstick on my nightstand...and every morning I wake up to find it gone. Normally under my bed, sometimes hidden behind things. Maggie likes to paw it off the nightstand and kick it around at night. Which is annoying, because my lips get dry during the night and I can't sleep when they are. Oh the joys of having a kitten...haha, I really do love having her. I don't know what I would do without her, especially with Ross at home for the time being. She makes it not as lonely.

Procrastination? No thanks, I'm not feeling up to it.
The last time I updated, it was the end of March. So much has happened since then...I've been promoted to Assistant Manager of Payless, Melissa got a new job in Orlando and moved down there, and I got a kitty. Her name is Maggie and she's adorable. I'm incredibly happy with everything going on in my life right now.
Today has been the laziest day imaginable. I'm supposed to be studying for my Social Psych final tomorrow. But what did I do instead? Made a carrot cake. From scratch. I'll be honest, I just ate a piece, and I'm pretty impressed with my cooking skills. Haha...I had to play around with the recipe because I didn't have everything it called for. I got the recipe from AllRecipes.com, which was my first time on that site and I liked it. It lets you adjust the recipe to how big of a dish you want to make.
INGREDIENTS
4 eggs
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
2 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 cups grated carrots
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup butter, softened
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, beat together eggs, oil, white sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in carrots. Fold in pecans. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
To Make Frosting: In a medium bowl, combine butter, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Stir in chopped pecans. Frost the cooled cake.
I didn't have vanilla extract, so I used a little honey to give it some flavor. And all I had was self-rising flour, so I omitted the baking powder and only added a little salt. I also didn't have to ingredients to actually MAKE the frosting, so I cheated a little on that part. I got lucky though, and happened to have a container of store-bought cream cheese icing, which worked fine.
I've never made a carrot cake before, but let me tell you...that is one big job right there. I grated an entire bag of carrots and thought that my hand was going to fall off. Anyways, it turned out perfectly. I really wanted to take a picture, and I'd love to post pictures of Maggie, but I left my camera in Apopka last weekend. So no pictures :-[
Well, three finals this week and then I'm done with spring term. Thank God. I think I'm going to go have another piece of cake and hit the books now....

Cactus Cuties?!?!
Stacy and Emily showed us this video last night. These little girls are amazing...their harmony is so pretty. They actually showed us a different video from the front, but I couldn't put that one on here because the encoding was removed. This one's a little shaky, but all you need is to hear them. Amazing. Some of the other girls singing from the Cactus Theater are good, too. (Just search for "Cactus Cuties" on YouTube). But nothing beats amazing harmony.
I've been so busy lately, with work and class, that I haven't posted an actual post in a while. Luckily, spring break is next week. That'll give me some time off to just relax and sleep. I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll get to go home for a few days, but if not, my family might come up Easter Weekend and that will be fun. I want to show them all of the new things around town.
I'm thinking it's time for a nap about now... :-]

Ross's surprise party was a complete success! We had so much fun, and I'm so glad that everyone was able to come to it.
Here are a few pictures from the party....

I hope you notice my decorations in the background...I spent a long time on them, and my legs are killing me from having to climb up on the stool over and over again. It paid off though, Ross was very surprised and very happy!
Anyways, besides that excited news - I got a job at Payless. Yayyyy shoes! I start training probably tomorrow, and I'm very excited.
Unfortunately, now I have to write a paper, and cannot give anymore updates. :-]

Good day, sunshine.
This weekend has been too short. Too short, but still fun. Last night, Ross, my dad, and I went night fishing on Lake Harris. It was a little cold, but it was a really pretty night, and I stayed relatively warm. We had a little trouble at first...my dad backed the boat into the water and as it came off the trailer, it was going too fast and Ross couldn't hold onto the rope. So my daddy had to go for a little swim...haha, luckily the water wasn't THAT cold! Once we got to fishing - Ross caught every single fish. He had already caught 5 on one pole when my dad moved to the front of the boat to move us forward a little...and right when he got to the front, one of his bobbers went under and Ross caught it for him. So Ross caught 6 fish, and my dad and I caught zero. We aren't taking Ross fishing anymore. Just kidding, at least someone caught something!
We got in around 2 or 3 in the morning, and I slept all morning. Then tonight, Ross and I, along with Johnny and Drew, went to the Monster Jam truck show at the Citrus Bowl. It was a lot of fun...it rained, but we had ponchos so we were all good. I'll have to post some pictures once I get them uploaded back at home.
Tomorrow I have a lot of homework to do...a loooot of reading! I can't wait.........ugh.
